Great British Bake Off

It’s back!! And I am SO excited!

Yes, it’s that time of the year. Summer is coming to an end and autumn is almost here, and that means one thing… Great British Bake Off! An hour of drooling over incredible signature bakes, panicking with the bakers as they tackle the technical challenge, and admiring the colourful and creative show-stoppers. And lets face it, you guys know by now how much I love all things cakes and bakes. In fact I only really like baking, as opposed to cooking (although I am trying to get better and enjoy it more!), so out of all the foodie shows there are on TV this is by far my favourite!

I’m not sure what it is about Bake Off, but it manages to get pretty much everyone watching, and only keeps growing in success! Whether it’s Sue and Mel, Mary and Paul, those innuendoes, rooting for your favourite baker – or maybe just a combination of it all, wrapped up with all of the baking delights! But it really does seem to be one of Britain’s most-loved shows.

The first episode was filled with baking drama, successes and failures, and of course, I wanted to eat everything in sight. A cake week is my kind of week! This episode I loved Selasi, and was convinced he was going to be named star-baker! I definitely think he’s one to watch – how can anybody be that calm and collected under the pressure of the baking tent?!

And… since I do love baking, I’m going to try out some of the bakes as the series goes along, and I’ll make sure to share them with you guys (follow/email subscribe to see what I manage to bake!), so look out for some more baking posts coming your way!!

All this talk of baking has made me hungry now, and I’m already excited for next week’s episode…

  1. Loved the post.
Even in the USA my wife and I found The Great British Bake Off on Hulu last year.
My wife is a baker and absolutely adores it and it became a staple of our weekly TV watching. She loved it so much that she bought one of Mary’s cook books.
Glad to see it is back and will be looking out for it coming back on Hulu.

  2. I like this show a lot. It has the unfortunate luck of being broadcast on Friday nights on an American PBS station (which doesn’t allow this Canadian to watch it on its website). I keep trying to remind myself to record it…but I invariably forget. They don’t even broadcast it another time during the week…..frustrating.

  3. I agree 100% with your thoughts on who should have been star baker. GBBO being back on has inspired me to do more baking, although I’m far far away from the level those guys are at. Going on a show like that would be my worst nightmare, I never know how they manage to work under that pressure and always do so well. I’ll happily sit at home and watch 😛
