Beyonce: Formation Tour

I still can’t believe that I’m writing this, I finally got to see my absolute favourite, the flawless Queen B – Beyoncé. I’ve had to wait a couple of days before writing this to get over my fangirling, but I’m not sure that I’m ever going to, so here we are.

I’ve been waiting to see Beyoncé live for years, after missing out on the previous two tours despite being ready and waiting to get tickets as they were released! So I was, of course, ecstatic when we finally managed to secure tickets for the Formation tour this year, and had been counting down the days since. And after the drive to Manchester and the couple of hours before Beyoncé actually came onto stage (the one thing that annoys me about live concerts) I was ready to enjoy every second.

And my goodness me, she was everything and more. Beyoncé is the ultimate performer. Her voice is incredible and sounds even better live than recorded, even whilst performing unbelievable, all-out dance routines – I doubt I’d even be able to speak properly, never mind sing! The set list was a perfect mix of classic Destiney’s Child songs, some of her greatest hits, and songs from the new album. Seeing the set list before the tour I wished there were more songs from the previous albums, but actually the balance was exactly right and I enjoyed every single song.

The stage presence that Beyoncé has is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. She was absolutely captivating, and I could not take my eyes off of her. And the effect that she had on the crowd was so powerful, she only had to look out at the crowd and everyone was screaming. She is exactly what every woman wants to be. Sassy, confident, fierce, and beautiful, elegant and vulnerable – all at the same time. I’m not sure I believe in perfection but Beyoncé is about as close as you can get. But not in an annoying way that leaves you feeling jealous or bad about yourself. In fact watching the show made me feel like a stronger, more empowered woman! And that is what that Beyoncé stands for, and probably why people love her so much. Each performer on stage was female, and although in 2016 that really shouldn’t even be something that you notice, it’s special to see. Everything that Beyoncé said was empowering, and if you take anything away from reading this, it should be what she said before performing Me, Myself and I. She told us that we women are born strong – ‘there’s no such thing as a weak woman’. We can go out and achieve whatever we want, and we are stronger than we believe.

I’m so glad I caught that part on record so that I can listen to it when I need some inspiration and strength. I feel like a little bit of Beyoncé’s attitude has been transferred to me, and I hope from reading this it has to you too!

*As always, if you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read don’t forget to follow my blog to stay up to date, and why not check out my other posts whilst you’re here too!*

  2. I understand how amazing a feeling it is to see someone live that you admire so much. I went through the same thing a few years ago when my friend bought me tickets to go see Kylie haha.
Beyoncé truly is a queen, and as close to as perfection as you can possibly get. She has such a powerful voice in this world and I’m glad that she uses it to support black rights/empower women everywhere. She’s such an inspiration!
